Is a Broker Dealer Worth It for Beginners?

I've been diving into trading lately and came across the term "broker dealer" a lot. I get that they facilitate trades and all, but I'm curious about whether it's really necessary for someone just starting out. I’m currently using an app for trading low-cost stocks, but I wonder if having a broker dealer could actually enhance my experience or offer better opportunities.

Do any of you seasoned traders have thoughts on this? Is it worth the fees, or would I be better off sticking to what I’ve got?
