What Are Your Thoughts on Metal Fabrication?
I've been getting into metal fabrication lately, and I’m really curious about what everyone else thinks about it. I've done some basic projects but I want to dive deeper. I’ve seen so many awesome things people create, from custom furniture to technical components.
Are there any specific techniques or tools that you swear by? I’m especially interested in welding methods since I’ve heard MIG and TIG can make a big difference. Also, if anyone has advice on how to choose the right materials, that would really help. I want to experiment but I’m also trying to avoid wasting money on stuff that doesn’t work for my projects. What do you all think? Any tips or favorite projects you’ve worked on? Would love to hear your experiences!

Metal fabrication is such a rewarding hobby! I’ve been doing it for a couple of years now, and MIG welding has been my go-to for its ease and speed. For materials, I recommend starting with mild steel for practice; it’s affordable and versatile. Once you get the hang of it, you can experiment with different metals like aluminum or stainless steel. Have fun with your projects—it's amazing what you can create!
Metal fabrication is such a cool hobby! I've had success with MIG welding for its speed and ease, but TIG does give you that precision, especially for thinner materials. As for materials, I find sticking to steel and aluminum for beginners is a safe bet—they're versatile and relatively affordable. Try starting with small projects like custom brackets or shelves to get the hang of it without breaking the bank. Can't wait to see what you create!
